The blog is growing!

Hey guys, thought you guys might be interested in hearing some stats about the blogs; Writing Feedback, and Pepperstories.  First let me say that as of the time that I' writing this, Writing Feedback has a whopping 71 Followers!  When I first started this blog I had less than ten followers and was proud that anyone would want to join my blog.  Now, I'm still proud but AMAZED at the following we're getting here.

So I thought that some of you might want to see some stats.  Ho-Z and I were talking about a way to determine the traffic that comes through to the blog.  He said that he had a friend that was working on a plug-in for Blogger and said he would look into it.  Gee, silly me!  It was right there all along, right beneath the words Stats!

As of 9-22-2010 the following shows the number of times the page has been looked at and the number of comments since May.

  1. Wow you are World Wide!!! Congrats chicka!!! Your talent speaks for itself. It also says that people want stories that they can relate to, that are realistic or/and that they actually thought of doing themselves but didnt know how or have the courage to do.
I personally have had my eyes open by your stories. Often times people tend to disregard people who are over wieght, blind, homeless or in a wheelchair. But they , like the rest of the world, are people who want love and relationships in their lives. There are people who aren't open minded to it or any of the scenarios that you have written and that is their ignorance. Just the other day there was a man in a wheelchair in the elevator and I looked at him and thought, woow he has georgous eyes and when he got off, my coworker bristled like he was the most nastiest thing she had ever seen. I was this () close to poppin her, instead I just shook my head.
Thank you for writing and I thank God for giving you the ability to do it and to do it well. Keep doing what you're doing.

  2. It's good to see this, Pep. You deserve all the positive attention you're getting, and more. Just keep doing what you're doing, and more and more success and acclaim will find you, I'm sure.

Right now you have a nice lead in two categories in the annual Lit contest, and you're close to leading in two more. I won't be surprised if you receive a number of nominations again next year, and win several.

    You're a writer, my friend. :)

  3. Remember, you are giving us a gift...for free! You're writing down ideas and allowing us to be a part of your creative process. I know that I'm very appreciative...and I'm sure everyone else here is too. I've told you before, I'd gladly pay for your stories. Congrats! :-)

  4. These stats are great stuff to have! If you ever decide to make the leap into a more traditional publishing venue, these are numbers that a literary agent can use to pitch you to a publishing house. Mainstream publishing is going though a sea change right now and writers like you who are establishing a demonstrated online audience are in positions of power because you can show a following. Fans = $$/buyers. But you will need more views to prove you can be profitable if someone gives you wider distribution. Rather that be in an e-book format or traditional paperback. You should start learning about the publishing business. Check out websites to learn how other authors made the jump. Many others who were hiding behind the door of online websites like Ellora's Cave and Samhain Publishing are now on the shelves on Borders, etc. Of course, you will need to OWN THE RIGHTS to your stories to be able to sell them. I don't know the particulars of Literica re: copyright, but you should be careful that your best work is not owned by others.

  5. It was great to see those stats. There are pie charts that explain how people access the site; if they use Windows, if they use a PC, Iphone, etc.

Thanks for the good advice on learning about marketing myself. I've only ever submitted one manuscript to one publisher (still within the 120 day expected wait so no word on it yet) and will probably start more promoting of my product using these stats.

Kali, when I hear people tell me that they look at people with disabilities in a different light I get truly emotional. I'm happy that I have a part in helping with that. I think that it is more that we don't like to see people struggling with a disorder more than that we are trying to ignore. And if people forget about that disability and see what else there is then they may find something very beautiful.

I try to stop before I disregard someone. Most times it pays off. Like me and Ho-Z; he asked me to write about someone in a wheelchair, or who has a disability, and had I said...eek no, I would have missed writing this amazing story. Now I have another person; Roger G--same scenario. He gave me an awkward idea and asked me to help him write it. In his case I wanted to smack him, but being intrigued I allowed him to send me the story idea, now I'm hooked and we are collaborating on something pretty sexy (tell you more later)

JG, NS, Anonymous, Kali, the rest of you, I appreciate you a great deal for not only giving me cheers, but encouraging me, telling me about the effect that reading the blog and stories has had on you and giving me the ability and motivation to keep working and improving. I know everyone talks about what they are getting for free from me. But what I get from you all, I'd pay for! Advice on how to do better, encouragement, critiques; shit, this is pure gold for me! It works great for me; I'll feed you stories if you feed me comments.

  6. Pep, your stories are amazing -- those stats pretty much speak for themselves! Have you thought about perhaps, widening the net and making a fan page on facebook for your stories and/or for the purpose of marketing? Good luck with the story you submitted for publishing! I would love to see your stories in print!

  7. Pepp Im so glad your getting the recognition you deserve. I have to say I have internet stalking you since I first read Emoboy. You have a profound way of giving dimension to all the characters you write about that is rare in some writers today. Thanks for letting us into the mind of Pepp.:)

  8. Hey Pepper, I love your stories! I found you through Literotica and I check out your blog every day. I don't like to follow the blog I read so I simply put them in a favourite folder. But I am a loyal reader and I simply love it. Jana from Germany

  9. you are doing a wonderful job, can't wait what will come of the new collaboration!

i'm doing one with Ho-Z as well, working on the details and such, can only start writing it after I'm done with current ones, but he got me hooked, that is for sure =)

  10. Happy to see my internet stalkers coming out of the woodwork! Mokkelke in addition to a collabo that I'm currently working on, I'm also going to write one with my long time writing partner Y-Not, who was my muse for Emoboy.

That one is going to be crazy. I had to make his character a hermaphrodite and then he got very excited. So these two endeavors will hopefully be very interesting! And can't wait to see what you and Ho-Z are working on!
