Pepper's Healthy Change Challenge

For a healthy start to the new year maybe you would like to join me in my Healthy Change Challenge. What I intend to do is to make a small lifestyle change or a brief challenge which will facilitate an overall healthy change to my lifestyle.

Beginning Monday I'm giving myself a change and maybe next week I will give myself a challenge to complete. This weeks change is that I will drink 50% more water and drop my soda pop/fruit juice intake to 10%. This is something I think I can live with.

It is my opinion that to accept this challenge with me you should give yourself reasonable challenges that you can live with. Each Monday I will announce a new challenge or healthy lifestyle change. If you're on board and want to join me then feel free to post it along with me!

As much as I cringe to do this; if it helps to inspire someone else I will. I want to share some photos that will either gross you the hell out or further inspire you. Recently I lost nearly 40 pounds (by the scale) but as I was working out I'm sure most of that weight is muscle. Anyways I am showing you some before and after photo that I have never shared before but I do this in an attempt to never go back to those before pictures. I am far from those before pictures but since I gained about 12 pounds this season its time to drop that and more!

These changes were made in less than a year and I kid you not--I lost my first twenty pounds within the first 2 months doing nothing more than changing my eating habits. So I guarantee you that giving yourself Healthy Challenges and making Healthy Changes will work.

  4. I will join us in this challenge! My goal is to drop sugar unless it is a special occasion. It actually upsets my stomach but I still eat it.

  5. Lol. I found out I was pre-diabetic and since it runs bad on both sides of the family it was enough to scare me straight. I work with a personal trainer twice a week and do cardio 5 times a week. As far as the eating, there's an app called LoseIt that's been the biggest help. Being able too see what I consume daily really put it in perspective for me. I don't consume dairy, alcohol (except on special occasions), no sweets, no carbs except sweet potatoes, brown rice, or wheat pasta), and eat lots of fruits vegetables. Sounds extreme but it works for me. I was really excited about this Healthy Challenge and already looking forward to the next one!

    1. Thank you for that information Rachel; I love sweet potatoes, wheat pasta (not a huge fan of brown rice but like it steamed with veggies) and I am a maniac for raw fruits and veggies. I believe that the key to a healthy lifestyle is to find healthy foods that you LOVE and then to incorporate it into your regular diet as a substitute for the fast food burgers and etc.

  7. Awesome job Pepper! I finally conceded that chocolate was making me sick and gave it up at the end of November. Now I need to do the same for sugar period. Your challenge will give me the impetus I need. Thank you I'm in!

    1. I never thought I'd get rid of my chocolate addiction because I absolutely love it. But once I stopped eating it regularly I found that it just didn't taste as good as I thought. So that helped me a great deal. Good luck Kim!

  8. Recommend you cut out all white food (rice, pasta, white bread, etc), cut back on red meat and pork, too. I now try to broil everything and have learned to use ground turkey in tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf, whatever beef was used in--started this over 10 yrs ago. I eat bacon every now and then and steak and pork 2-3 times a yr, hey, I'm human but here is a TMI moment--use the bathroom and the stench will tell what you ate can't be good for you.

The DVD 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead' turned me onto juicing and this summer I plan to freeze the juice into Popsicles. I lost 1 lb for every day I was juicing and kept them off for months; slept better and skin glowed. Good luck everybody and stay focus and remember like Pep said drink lots and lots of water--your skin will love you for it!

    1. That is amazing information Anonymous. For all the 'bad' foods that should be cut out of your system to facilitate a healthy lifestyle or weight loss there are delicious substitutions. I'm going to begin juicing too (got a juicer at Christmas) but there are some great blended recipes as well. I'm going to post information about making blended green juices. Thanks for your information.
