My gazebo...fell

Oh my wonderous gazebo! It's collapsed. You guys should see it. This is the BEFORE picture. Ok...I can't lie, this is Mom's gazebo. But she bought the EXACT replica of mine and of course decorated it much better.
Now here is a picture of mine in 2007 after we had hurricane winds. It blew all over my backyard. My neighbors banded together to save my poor little gazebo, which was only a few weeks old. They brought me rope and we tied it to the fence and garage and it was sorta saved.

This is how it looked after the winds.
Now, before you make fun of me, this is a $600, wrought iron trellis gazebo (though I only paid a fraction of the price on sale) and I only got to use it for a few months before it collapsed.

Yeah...it was a little rough; screen torn in a few places, hanging in places. Yeah I sewed it up. And? LOL but I did all of my creative work there. It became my home away from home. I even hooked up stereo speakers! Sometimes I even dragged the hammock in to it and slept.

I guess it couldn't last forever. After all of the heavy rains, this is all that's left of my sweet sweet gazeobo;

Before you ask...yes that is a great big satellite dish in the back yard and yes my grass needs cutting. Check out where I sewed the top very carefully so that bees and wasps wouldn't get in.

I guess it's time to invest in a new one.

Here is a picture of me back in the good ol' days (7 mos ago) when I was happy...in my gazebo.

  1. 1) I pray that you and your family are safe and were no where near it when it collapsed. 2) I am a horrible person. Do you know the first thing I thought of when I read this post...I wonder if this means we won't get Beast Ch. 11 tomorrow. LMAO...I know, *slaps hand* bad girl, bad girl.

  4. The weather can be such a bitch. Maybe you can build something permanent in the backyard that's kind of sunk into the ground? Get some cement involved?

  5. I missed all of that weather thankfully... sadly my yard did not. I was in AZ while my big and very heavy BBQ was being knocked over.

Funny the things you think of when you are heaving a bajillion pound flesh fryer, the benign thought running through my head at that moment was at least it didn't snow again... Oh and I hope that our insurance covers hernia repair.

  6. Pep,

I'm glad you're okay, and hope that you'll be able to find another sanctuary. You should definitely be afraid not to post the next chapter of Beast. Some of your fans may try to find you if you don't. LOL! By the way, I was listening to Ledisi today, and the words of her new song, Pieces of Me, really resonated with me. They reminded me of Ashleigh because, like all of us, she is a woman of contrasts: fear and bravery, joy and sadness, etc. It's an extremely difficult task to embody all of those emotions and make all of those pieces come together using the written word. So far, you have done a masterful job of bringing Ashleigh to life. I totally want to do lunch with her next time I'm in the area. Honestly, I can see her singing, "I'm a woman! A woman!" onstage for karaoke. I hope this song helps tp inspire you, despite your recent loss. Have a great week!

  7. I love Ledisi and haven't caught her latest album. I'll check out the song. You have a good week too!

  8. I thought Monday night would be horrible without Beast but a funny thing happened yesterday on tv... Pretty in Pink was on! It's not exactly the same thrill but it got me thru to tonight:). You are a wonderful talent. Thank you for sharing it with us. Have you started the screenplay for Beast yet? :)

  9. LOL! I watched it for a while, and then I got to the part where Blaine whimped out on her about the prom and I got pissed that she would even consider taking his little punk-ass back!

It is true what Beast said. John Hughes had intended for Andie and Duckie to get together but Molly Ringwald refused to play that part and insisted that no one would want to see the two of them together and that teens would want to see her get the dream guy.

Too bad she didn't know that Duckie WAS the dream guy.

  10. Just an FYI: Beast is responsible for a recent change on my car radio. I actually have a contemporary country station programmed on the favorites:). The soundtrack that I hear in my head with some of the Beast chapters include cuts by Rascal Flatts. This new trend was "outed" by a friend of mine on Sunday...so much for deep dark secrets! Was this a TMI moment?

  11. And now look where Molly Ringwald is....The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Whomp whomp.
